It seems like it's the end of ComputerMods and the site as i feel there is a need for a fresh start and ability to inject money ito the site. Therefore i have decided to launch a new site called "xNand," this site will progressively replace ComputerMods.
�� This is due PHP fusion ceasing to be Open Source anymore and also that it lacks in features compared to other mianstream CMS's. Another problem is the phpBB3 which is also starting to fall and many of it's mods are basically crap. Finally the current design isn't brilliant.
�� As a result the new site will take a different approach and will be powered by Joomla and SMF, which i think are two best for the job. The two systems have been bridged to allow user transistion. Which means you'll have the same username and password and on the forums.

UPDATE: Game steams past 1m UK sales in 24 hours as it steals GTA IV's crown

Activision sold 1.23 million copies of Modern Warfare 2 in the UK on the game's first day on release, MCV can reveal.

Incredibly, that's double the number GTA IV sold through in its first 24 hours on shelves � making MW2 by far the fastest-selling video game in UK history.

The figure � which represents close to one in 24 UK homes � comes from official GfK-ChartTrack data obtained by MCV.

The news puts MW2 easily on course to hit the 1.7 million sales forecast by MCV last month � and means it's already matched HMV's slightly more conservative estimate.

The last day-one sales champ, GTA IV, generated 609,000 sales in its first 24 hours at retail in the UK � taking around �27 million.

Natal launch details leak from secret Microsoft tour

November 2010 release, 5m units global ship, 14 games, and super-low sub-�50 price

MCV can this week reveal first details regarding the launch of Microsoft's Project Natal.

Our sources say the innovative controller-free 360 camera will be released worldwide in November 2010.

This and other details have emerged following a behind-closed-doors Microsoft tour of UK publishers and studios � the format-holder has been demoing the tech and detailing its 2010 plans in order to spur more development support.

Microsoft is planning to manufacture 5m units for day one release, with a mix of console and camera plus solus SKUs expected.

The device should cost under �50 when sold solo. One publishing source says Microsoft is �trying to get as close as possible to �impulse buy��. Another even says the camera could even retail for just �30.

14 games are being readied for launch.

Natal was unveiled earlier this year at E3 in Los Angeles. The device uses an array of cameras and microphones to track player movements.

Activision, Bethesda, Capcom, Disney, EA, Konami, MTV, Namco Bandai, Sega, Square Enix, THQ and Ubisoft all committed to make games for the device in an announcement made at last month's Tokyo Game Show.

It�s expected a large chunk of launch games will be first-party offerings from studios such as Rare with third-party games to follow. It is not known if Lionhead�s widely-discussed Milo, which uses advanced AI to create realistic characters, will be in the mix.

Natal will arrive almost five years to the day after the Xbox 360 and is perceived by many, Microsoft included, as a way to lengthen the lifespan of the hardware without resorting to a new console launch. The first Xbox was sold in the UK for only three years before 360 hit.

This summer Xbox studios boss Phil Spencer told MCV the 360 still �hasn't peaked�.

�When Natal arrives it will feel like a new generation has come,� he said. �I see it like the launch of 360 in November �05. Consumers don�t want another $400 box right now.�

Sony has said it will launch PS3�s motion-sensing wand peripheral � movement of which is tracked by the already-available PlayStation Eye camera � before Microsoft�s kit in spring 2010. However, so far the Japanese firm has kept details of the launch closely under wraps.

Sky Launches On Xbox 360

It's official. In the UK, Sky has launched on Xbox LIVE and Gold members with at least 2Mb broadband and either a Sky TV or Sky Player can watch Sky One, MTV and Sky Arts, reports CVG.

Those without Sky subscriptions can subscribe for �15 and for �19 for sports channels. Twenty-four channels are currently on the Sky service.

According to Sky's David Mercer, terrestrial channels are not yet available and programs won't be shown in HD because of poor British broadband speeds.

"For BSkyB it offers further evidence that its future subscriber growth is not dependent on its traditional satellite set-top box strategy," said Mercer.

"For Microsoft it is further confirmation that the Xbox is on its way to becoming not just a games console, but rather a complete home entertainment system."

When asked when Sky is coming to the PS3, Sky's Stephen Nuttall told TechRadar, "So we - Microsoft and Sky - are very focused on making this an enormous success this autumn and working together to deliver a great project.

"...To be honest we're kind of neutral about how people access our content and don't feel we should proscribe how people should be watching Sky. Our job is just to give people options."

Xbox 360 Dashboard update 'preview' open for signups

Xbox 360 Dashboard update 'preview' open for signups As it has done in the past, Microsoft is offering early access to its next Xbox 360 Dashboard update (which integrates Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm and Zune Marketplace) to those who sign up -- and are then selected -- to preview it. Major Nelson has just updated his blog with word that the signup process has begun for the program, mentioning that Microsoft is looking for "multiple thousands" of users to test out the update. So, sounds like chances of getting in are good.

Those wishing to put their name in the hat for beta access can do so by hitting the MS Connect site and filling out a survey. The preview program is being offered in all territories where Xbox Live is available, but keep in mind you'll need a Windows Live ID in order to apply. The Major says those who've been picked will receive an email in about a week, after which the update will be pushed out to their consoles and they can start bragging about their early access via Twitter and Facebook right from their 360s.

If past Dashboard preview programs are anything to go by, everyone who signs up will eventually gain access just prior to the update's release -- which may happen on November 17.

When we recently got to give the services a spin at Microsoft's First Annual Open House, the company wouldn't give us a set-in-stone release date, though MTV Multiplayer were told a public beta for the services would arrive for XBL Gold Members in the "middle-towards-end of October." We've contacted Microsoft for word on when the services will be arriving on this side of the pond, though ... well ... it's the weekend. We'd suggest you don't go holding your breath for that info until Monday.

During an SCEJ press event this afternoon at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony finally announced a release date for Gran Turismo 5. And it's not in 2009.

The game will be out in Japan in March 2010. Which is still months away. A shame, we know, but then, GT fans have been waiting years for this. They can wait a little longer.

Only the Japanese date was revealed. If any info on a Western release pops up, we'll let you know.

Xbox 360 Price Cut Announced

Tomorrow sees Elite price drop to �199.99 whilst Arcade SRP rises to �159.99

The speculation can finally come an end. From tomorrow the Xbox 360 Elite 120GB will cost �199.99 in the UK � that�s a drop of �30 from the current RRP.

And as expected, the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade has increased by the same amount to �159.99, though Microsoft has not yet clarified whether the machine will come with any additional extras.

The Xbox 360 Pro SKU is to be phased out. In North America, the Pro is to be discounted by $50 to $250 for as long as stocks last.

Both price changes come into force from tomorrow (Friday August 28th) � a move that will see the reduced price Elite given a bank holiday weekend head-start ahead of the launch of PS3 Slim next Tuesday.

In North America the Elite has dropped to $299 whilst the Arcade price has remained static.

�With the Christmas season right around the corner, it�s already time to start looking for entertainment and gifts that everyone will enjoy,� Microsoft Europe�s Chris Lewis vice president Interactive Entertainment Business.

�We have a goal over the next 18 months to reinvent entertainment in the living room and we want to ensure that we have the right foundations in place for our consumers to make simple informed choices around their entertainment platform.

�We know that price is a critical influencing factor in consumer choice, but we also know that consumers across Europe are looking for value, benefit and entertainment experiences, so we need to address all these points to continue to grow and be successful in Europe.�

360 Price Cut Details to be announced tomorrow

A trusted UK retailer has confirmed to VG247 that there is indeed a price cut coming to Xbox 360 and that the Pro is on the way out, starting this coming Friday, August 28.

The Elite-price will drop from �239.99 to �199.99 - the same as a Wii - with the Pro 60Gb being discontinued.

Our source says the Arcade will remain the �entry level hardware�, but the current console bundle with Sega Superstars Tennis will finish. The new Arcade SKU will launch at the suggested price of �159.99 without any software.

GameStation will be launching an Elite bundle at �199.99 with COD 4 Modern Warfare and Fight Night Round 4.

As for trade-ins, you can get an Elite for �99.99 if you put in a Wii or a 60Gb 360. Should you decide to trade-in a 160gb PS3, you�ll get the Elite for �19.99.

An announcement is expected to be made by Microsoft tomorrow, according to earlier reports.

Elite 360 No Longer Ships With HD Cables

One of the things I appreciated most about my Xbox 360 Elite was that it shipped with an HDMI cable in the box, letting me get the most out of my system's visuals without the need for further expense.

Thing is, I got my Elite years ago. If you plan on picking one up in the future, you won't be so lucky, as several GameStop employees have told us new models of the hardware hitting stores across the US (new box pictured) no longer ship with a HDMI cable. In fact, they don't even ship with component cables either, just some SD composite cables, meaning anyone with an HDTV is going to have to pay a little extra. An HD tax, if you will.

Disappointing, Microsoft. How are you going to help kick the HD generation along shipping composite cables? This was a bum move when Sony pulled it in 2006. Pulling it in 2009 is just...yeah, disappointing.

Microsoft to increase 360 Arcade price in UK, retailers confirm

Retailers have told Eurogamer that Microsoft will increase the price of the Arcade Xbox 360 bundle to GBP 159.99 (from GBP 129.99) starting September 1. The five XBLA games will no longer be included in the bundle, either.

ShopTo boss Igor Cipolletta received confirmation from Microsoft this morning, as did a corroborating independent retail chain source.

Eurogamer was also told that Microsoft will increase the price of individual Xbox 360 accessories by one or two pounds. An independent retail source said this was being done to counteract the poor pound-to-Euro currency exchange rate.

Furthermore, the email from Microsoft to retailers mentioned only Arcade and Elite bundles, which also strengthens recent rumours the Premium Xbox 360 bundle is to be discontinued.

Microsoft has been contacted and GamesIndustry.biz is awaiting comment on the price increase.

The staple Xbox 360 - the Xbox 360 Pro - looks set to march straight off retail shelves and into the history books, if new console packaging is anything to go by.

First hinted at by Ars Technica's ever-reliable mole in June, then further hinted at by new 360 packshot renders later that month, photos sent to us by GameStop employees earlier this week seem to offer proof that Microsoft will soon go from offering three Xbox 360 consoles to just two.
